One of the wise sayings of India is ‘VydyoNarayanoHari’ (The doctor is a representative of God on earth). Consequently, the nurses who assist the doctors and who serve the patients in various ways are regarded as angels. They dress the wounds of patients, explain the method of using medicines, detail dietary items and soothe the patients with their soft and sweet words. It is said that a nurse will be patient with the patients. In fact, Nurses hold back their personal tears and spread sweet smiles.
Dr. Dodla Ramachandra Reddy, the founder of Visvodaya Educational Institutions has realized the importance of social service and medical aid right from the inception in mid 20th Century. They have become a part of Vidvodaya ideals and part of educational life on the campus of about 100 acres. We only continue the tradition now.
Invoking the spirit of Florence Nightingale, we have started the B.Sc., Nursing Course. It is not only an educational course at the teaching level but also a great program of healthcare at the social level. Moreover, the ratio between the general population and the nurses is appallingly so wide that the matter is one of huge global challenge. It need not be said that a nurse is an angel who always gives us ‘Hope’.
